Pelicans rookie Derek Quinn has undergone wrist surgery and will be out for at least three months. NEW ORLEANS — Pelicans rookie Derek Quinn will likely miss the start of training camp at least as he underwent surgery on Friday to repair a torn ligament on his left wrist.

Queen was injured in an NBA summer league game on Tuesday. The Pelicans said he will be evaluated again in about 12 weeks, when training camp should have begun.
The surgery Friday was to repair the torn acroclavicular ligament, which was performed by Dr. Steven Shin of Los Angeles.
The 6-foot-9 Queen is the freshman player of the year in the Big Ten league, averaging 16.5 points per game while at the University of Maryland. His buzzer-beating win helped Trapnin advance to the Sweet 16 in the second round of the NCAA Championship against Colorado State, but they eventually lost there to the eventual national champion Florida.
